报告内容简介:
Paramagnetic complexes of Gd(III) and Mn(II) are of great importance as MRI contrast agents. The basic requirements are high relaxivity and labile water molecules in the first coordination sphere. High thermodynamic and kinetic stability are also vital to prevent the toxicity of the free metal ions. We show a new approach to this problem from the basic research side. Organic nanoparticles were prepared containing the important -N[(CH2COOH)2] units in size of about 8 nm on polyethylene-imine and G5_PAMAM dendrimer platforms. These nanoparticles were used as ligands for both Gd(III) and Mn(II) ions. We found that the very important feature of the prepared complexes is that neither of them contain water molecules directly coordinating to the metal ions at physiological pH in spite of their high relaxivity. This means that the risk of coordination of proteins to the metal ions in these complexes, thus the toxicity and the decomposition are much less probable.
